If you've ever had a question about the intricacies of applying a dark lipstick, ask and Kylie Jenner shall deliver. This week on her website, the Kardashian-Jenner crew's resident lip pro shared the secrets for making those darker hues last all day—a pretty useful topic regardless of whether or not you keep up with the Kardashians. To begin, you'll need to prep your lips accordingly. "Start by applying a conditioner or primer to moisturize your lips and prevent them from looking dry or cracked. It will also help your color last longer," she advises. The young Jenner then follows with a layer of Too Faced's Lip Insurance Primer ($20; sephora.com), though your favorite concealer will also do the trick if you don't feel like springing for a tube.

"Just like with the primer/conditioner, apply a concealer all over the surface of your lips," she writes, citing the Make Up For Ever Concealer Pencil ($19; sephora.com) as a fave. Jenner then applies the dark hue over the top—for the above look, she used her Lip Kit in True Brown K, but suggests Make Up For Ever's Icy Brown ($20; sephora.com) and Charlotte Tilbury's Matte Revolution in Birkin Brown ($32; nordstrom.com) as alternatives—and finishes by cleaning up the edges with a Q-Tip dipped in Nars Concealer ($25; sephora.com). Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
