Kylie Jenner’s BFF Jordyn Woods Gets Candid About How She Deals with Rumors
Jordyn Woods has had a busy year. She launched a curve-friendly capsule collection, she has been modeling, and she had a huge birthday bash back in September where she went on a hot air balloon ride and was gifted a car. While there were a lot of rumors flying around during that time (most notably about her pal Kylie Jenner's pregnancy), she didn't let it phase her.
But let her tell you that herself. InStyle spoke with Woods at American Eagle’s 40th anniversary celebration and opening of AE Studio in Union Square on Tuesday night about dealing with rumors, personal style, and who she looks up to in the modeling industry. Check out our interview below.
InStyle: What’s your favorite American Eagle thing you’ve ever owned?
Jordyn Woods: I definitely think they have great basics and I’m all about basics and also the denim. This is one of my first times trying it. Normally it’s so hard for me to find jeans that fit so these I really didn’t have to do anything to.
How would you describe your personal style?
Good question, I want to say it’s like—someone called it urban eclectic one time, and I just ran with it because it’s very street. I’m always wearing streetwear, track pants, but I also try to dress it up with maybe a designer purse or handbag, but I’m always wearing sneakers.
Do you have a go-to pair of sneakers?
Not to be bougie, but the Balenciaga shoes, the ones that look like socks, are the most comfortable. I literally wore them every day not even because of the designer name, just because these are the most comfy. I was trying to find the white ones today, but they were sold out everywhere.
As a young model, who do you look up to in the modeling industry?
Being a model is a lot more difficult than people think it is. It takes a certain type of person, so I really look up to any of the girls who are out there and being confident and not taking no for an answer no matter what their height, their weight, their ethnicity, or their gender is.
You just celebrated a birthday, what was the best gift you were given?
My birthday was insane this year. Instead of being one day, it ended up being a whole weekend and I got to share it with all the people that I love, so it was really nice. My friend [Kylie Jenner] surprised me with a hot air balloon ride, so I think that was really insane because now I can cross that off my bucket list.
That’s insane, I thought you were going to say a car or something.
Yeah I mean, I did get a car and most people would say that, which was insane too, but I think the hot air balloon ride was the most memorable.
What was it like to have intense rumors flying around during your birthday?
I think there’s always rumors and you just kind of have to live your life. There are rumors whether you’re in middle school, high school, or you’re a celebrity or whatever. There are always rumors going around because people are jealous or people are curious, but you just can’t listen to them.
How do you deal with people gossiping?
I just don’t deal with it actually. I let them live their life because, obviously, they’re more concerned about what you’re doing, but I’m not really concerned unless it’s like my friend starting a rumor. Then I’m so confrontational, I’m like ‘OK, what is this, why is this, and let’s stop this.’ But when it comes to random people, it just passes. Everything passes.
