Kylie Jenner’s a Barbie Girl
It’s a question for the ages: Is Kylie Jenner Barbie, or is Barbie Kylie Jenner?
Of course, Barbie was “born” in 1959 at Mattel headquarters, while Jenner was born in 1997 at Kardashian headquarters (Calabasas, California). Save for their respective birth dates, however, it’s a real “chicken or the egg" situation.
Take a look for yourself — Jenner’s 2018 Halloween costume is uncanny.
And just like real Barbie, Jenner's Barbie has multiple outfits, and a convertible:
For what it’s worth, Beyoncé, who was born in 1981, did a rendition of the costume first, though hers was a group effort with her daughter Blue and hubby Jay-Z.
Jenner’s look was a solo project, and likely a nod to the trolls who have relentlessly attacked her family for their “plastic” aesthetic. For proof, look no further than her Instagram caption, a lyric from the Aqua classic “Barbie Girl” (which was released before she was born): “Life in Plastic, It's Fantastic.”
We can only imagine the pressure the 21-year-old must’ve been feeling to one-up last year’s costume, a spot-on tribute to Christina Aguilera in her Xtina days. (The look was also by Bryan Hearns, who not only designed big sister Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson's Game of Thrones couples costume from last year, but also Kylie's Barbie bodysuit.)
We’ll admit — we were worried when we saw Kylie’s cute-but-boring twinning butterfly costume with daughter Stormi, which she posted to Instagram on Tuesday.
But our worries, it turns out, were unfounded.
C'mon Barbie, let's go party!
