Here's How to Recreate Kristen Stewart's Summer-Ready Undone Waves
Summer hasn’t even officially started yet, but Kristen Stewart made the mercury levels reach new heights Monday night with her newly dyed platinum blonde hair worn in perfectly undone waves at Thirst Project’s seventh annual Thirst Gala in L.A. And the effortlessly cool hairstyle, which counterbalanced the actress's ladylike white lace dress by Preen, is one we’ll be making our go-to look as the season’s temperatures continue to rise.
“We wanted the hair to be cool and fun in contrast to her beautiful dress,” says celebrity hairstylist Kylee Heath, who created the look. After misting the actress’s damp roots with Oscar Blandi Volumizing Spray ($19; beauty.com), Heath applied Iles Formula Haute Performance Finishing Serum ($44; sephora.com) to the ends to keep them smooth and frizz-free. She then used a round brush to blow-dry Stewart’s crown, and lightly scrunched the rest as she dried to enhance natural texture.
Once her client’s hair was completely dry, Heath lightly wrapped small sections of hair around Enzo Milano 31mm Classic Iron ($100; enzomilano.com) and quickly released them to create bends instead of perfect curls. After, she went over Stewart’s entire head with a 1/2 curling iron to break it up and mix up the texture. To give the style even more ease, Heath gently ran her fingers through the star's hair and slightly teased the crown, as well as applied a small amount of Iles Formula Haute Performance Finishing Serum all-over for a silky finish.
To tie the look together, Heath sprayed a few spritzes of Shu Uemura Sheer Lacquer Finishing Hairspray ($39; shuuemuraartofhair-usa.com) into her hands and applied it to Stewart’s ends and the right side of her hair before tucking it behind her right ear as a final touch.
