On Monday night, Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, and Khloé Kardashian slipped into their finest evening wear, diamond jewelry, and contoured makeup, not for an awards show or a party, but for Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research’s Annual Angel Ball in New York City, where the late Robert Kardashian, who died of throat cancer in 2003, was being honored.

The foundation was created after songwriter and philanthropist Denise Rich's 27-year-old daughter, Gabrielle, passed away from acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) in 1996. The foundation has gone on to raise an incredible $28 million for cancer research over the last 20 years. The event, sponsored by Svedka Vodka, was one for the history books with plenty of star appearances and performances from Cee Lo Green and Earth, Wind & Fire.

All three Kardashian women looked gorgeous in skin-baring illusion gowns: Khloé in a sheer Yousef Al-Jasmi dress, with feathery, silver embroidery on the bodice, bust, and hem; Kourtney in a black strapless, bustier-style gown with a ruffled skirt and sheer side panels. Kris's sheer look may have been more conservative, but she stunned nonetheless in a glittering long-sleeve black gown with sheer illusion sleeves and mesh-like detailing on the bodice.

Although Kim Kardashian West was slated to make her public debut at the Angel Ball, her husband Kanye West's hospitalization for "exhaust[ion] … and sleep deprivation," brought her back to Los Angeles a few days early, according to a People source.

At the ball, the foundation honored the Kardashian's late father with a sweet video tribute and kind words from those who knew him. Jenner stepped up on stage later in the night with her daughters to accept the honor on his behalf, giving a tearful and emotional speech on giving back and doing good. "What you make, you give back and you do it without saying a word, because that’s what the bible said," she told the room. "And when Denise [Rich] called and said we wanted to honor Robert, we thought, you know what, it’s time to really use a really big voice for a really big cause, for a really big deal."

Jenner presented Rich with a check for $250,000 for the foundation, saying that it will be the first of many donations from the family. "Hopefully [this] will be the start of a [tradition] … something all the time, and a continuous donation, but this is a little something to help with tonight from me and my girls. So congratulations on your amazing work, we love you."
