Kobe Bryant Designed a Lakers-Inspired Watch for Hublot; Proceeds Support His Foundation
Kobe Bryant is a master of precise timing on the basketball court, and now he’s taking his knack for good timing one step further. Hublot hired the baller as its latest celebrity ambassador, and as part of the new partnership, Bryant created his own watch for the timepiece brand—and it is, shall we say, baller. The Limited-Edition King Power Black Mamba watch, a title inspired by his serpentine nickname, Black Mamba, features Los Angeles Lakers-inspired purple and gold accents and a black python band. “My basketball skills mimic the snake of that name’s ability to strike with 99% accuracy at maximum speed, in rapid succession,” Bryant told InStyle.com after revealing the design at a private dinner in Los Angeles last week. “I am obsessed with watches,” he continued. “A watch allows a stylish guy to express himself. This is the perfect watch for a daring guy who appreciates bold design, precision, and performance. And an L.A. Lakers fan, of course!” Only 250 of these were made—one is for Kobe, of course—and they are available for $25,000 at select Hublot boutiques (visit hublot.com for locations). A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Kobe & Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation.
