The Kardashian-Jenner clan has kept mum since cheating allegations first surfaced against Khloé Kardashian’s boyfriend Tristan Thompson, days before she was due to give birth. Of course, the drama will all play out on the next season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, but considering those new episodes are likely months away, Kim Kardashian West eased our pain and spoke out about the scandal for the very first time, becoming the first family member to do so.
The mom of three appears on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, and in new sneak peeks released Friday she candidly addresses the drama—and why she’s trying so hard to stay out of it. “Poor Khloé,” she told DeGeneres. “I don’t even know how to describe it besides it’s just so fucked up.”
“We really were rooting for Khloé, and we still are. She’s so strong and she’s doing the best that she can. It’s a really sad situation all over. I kind of made this rule with my brother, if there’s a baby involved, I’m going to keep it cute, keep it classy, and not talk too bad—I’m going to try not to say anything so negative, because one day True is going to see this. It’s so messed up.”
Khloé, for her part, has yet to address the scandal. Instead, her first post announcing the name of her newborn daughter, True Thompson, skimmed over the drama entirely, making it sound as if everything was peachy in the Kardashian-Thompson household. This is the first time that any member of the family has acknowledged that the situation is anything but.
Cheating allegations aren’t the only scandals that the Kar-Jenners have been plagued by this month. Kim’s own husband Kanye West has been making headlines of his own with his controversial tweets, many of which are in support of President Trump. While Kim has made clear that she doesn’t agree with his political beliefs, she has come to defend her husband and his freedom of speech.
“I didn’t even know he got his Twitter again until I started seeing tweets come in from other people like re-tweeting them. So I was like wait, is this real? And then at night he came in and was like, ‘Did you see my tweets?’ And I was like, ‘Yes, I did see your tweets.’ And I followed him back,” she laughed.
“I mean, I hear him say all these things in the house,” she said. “He always talks about clarity and he always talks about how we should not have our phones first thing in the morning and in the house when we’re with the kids let’s not have our phones. It’s our rule that we really try to live by. So I think he was talking about cleansing.”
I guess when he said that sometimes you have to “get rid of everything,” he didn’t mean Kim too.
