How do you read a book? Perhaps you’re curled in bed next to your snoring partner, struggling to find an angle that satisfies both your neck and wrists. Or maybe you engage in a balancing act on the B train — one hand cradling your paperback and the other clinging to the pole, your chin assuming a surprisingly pivotal role in turning each page?
“None of the above,” says Kendall Jenner (probably). If you’re a supermodel worth tens of millions of dollars, your mode of enjoying the literary world’s many splendors involves a Very Good bikini, a glass of chilled rosé, and (naturally) a yacht.
Jenner spent her most recent beachside vacation in close proximity to a pile of books that included Melissa Broder’s personal essay collection So Sad Today, Fariha Róisín’s poetry collection How to Cure a Ghost, and Amparo Dávila's short story collection The Houseguest. Sensing a theme?
Last May she was photographed reading Darcie Wilder’s novel literally show me a healthy person (no yacht this time, but there was still a bikini involved — plus, bonus points for reading through tiny sunglasses).
In November, Jenner took her Instagram followers on a tour of her reading list, which she admitted was curated by her agent, Ashleah Gonzales (who also added the array of colorful notes to Jenner’s copies).
Hooray for books! While reading is probably more fun whilst tanning somewhere along the French Riviera, I promise even cramped, parka-clad subway reading can be a good time.
