In an unexpected turn of events on Saturday afternoon, on-again, off-again couple Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom arrived at the Vatican together to meet Pope Francis.
“Happy Saturday, everyone. I’m here in Rome at the Vatican about to speak on meditation,” she said, panning the camera over to her mom, Mary Hudson, and Bloom, who she refers to as her "darling."
Perry, wearing a black ruffle dress and matching hat with a bandeau veil, was set to give a speech at the fourth annual Unite to Cure conference, an international forum about cancer treatment. Bloom coordinated his look with the "Roar" singer in a black-and-white suit for the formal event.
While arriving at the venue, the pair was all smiles as they graciously shook hands with Pope Francis. Moments later, Perry took the stage to speak about how she uses the power of meditation to control her anxiety rather than prescription drugs, according to Newsweek.
"It has helped a lot with my anxiety. Instead of having to turn to prescription [drugs] I've been able to turn to this," she said.
The pop star continued: "It helps incredibly with jet lag, and we did it this morning at 7 o'clock. And for the Italians, it helps with the hangovers," she joked.
Perry and Bloom are rumored to be dating again, after announcing they were taking space in February 2017. The idea of a reconciliation was sparked earlier this year when the duo vacationed together in the Maldives, and then sight-seeing in Prague two months later.
Last month, a source told confirmed to People that the pair were indeed dating again, stating: “After Orlando and Katy split, they stayed in touch. It wasn’t some awful split. They were just busy with their careers and it wasn’t working."
“In the past few months, they have spent a lot of time together,” the source added. “They both love traveling and are trying to share as many fun trips as possible. They are dating, but not necessarily putting a label on it.”
