Katy Perry Just Announced the Sex of Her and Orlando Bloom's Baby
Ever since Katy Perry announced that she's expecting her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom last month, the singer has been extremely open about her pregnancy. From documenting herself eating pickles during the coronavirus quarantine to coming up with the cute nickname #babycat for her little one on the way, Katy's gifted fans with plenty of updates as her due date inches closer.
In her latest baby briefing, Perry announced the sex of her future child, and it's a girl!
On Friday night, Katy posted an adorable snap of Orlando's face covered in pink frosting to Instagram. "It's a girl," she captioned the photo of the actor smiling from ear to ear at the gender reveal.
Back in March, during her performance of "Wide Awake" at the World Cup Final in Australia, Katy said she was wishing for a daughter. "I hope it's a girl," she said on-stage while pointing to her stomach. Meanwhile, Bloom, who shares 9-year-old son, Flynn, with his ex-wife, Miranda Kerr, is "thrilled" about having a second child in general.
Before the pregnancy announcement, the couple expressed interest in starting a family together. "Katy is slowing down her career this year," a source told People in February 2019. "[She and Bloom] want to get married and start a family sooner rather than later." Another source added: "They both want kids together and will prioritize this.”
Katy also admitted that her pregnancy was planned. "Well, it wasn't on accident," she said during an interview with SirusXM's Mikey Piff. "I'm so grateful for everything that I have been able to do and achieve and all the goals that I've been kind of able to check off my list and dreams and the life I've lived thus far, and I think I've just been trying to create this space in my own life where I'm not running myself too ragged and like, you know, creating space for something new to happen like this."
Katy is reported to give birth this summer.
