Katy Perry Ditched Her Platinum Blonde Hair for this Huge Trend
A bad breakup, season change, or a new job are just a few situations we can think of that call for switching up your hair. But if you're Katy Perry, it's the end of your tour.
The singer wrapped up the Asia leg of her Witness World Tour over the weekend and marked the occasion by dyeing her hair hot pink. Perry shared her new look in an Instagram post over the weekend. She tagged her colorist Rick Henry of Nine Zero One Salon in L.A., who was responsible for creating her hot pink color.
While Perry first rocked cotton candy-pink hair back in 2011, she's the latest celeb to try the trend this spring. Kim Kardashian, Paris Jackson, and Lucy Hale are just a few stars that have added pink shades to their hair via highlights or allover color.
It might be a look we've seen on Perry before, but hot pink is a big departure from the platinum blonde shade she's stuck with for the past year or so. Judging from the singer's selfie, Henry painted the color onto the choppy, long layers of Perry's pixie and left the sides platinum. The stylist used Joico Color Butter in Pink ($20; ulta.com). A temporary hair color that lasts for up to 10 shampoos. This creamy formula isn't just easy to apply evenly, it also conditions and strengthens hair as it deposits the color.
Considering Perry's track record with hair color experimentation it's not surprising that her pink hair is only temporary, but we're hoping it means that this is just the beginning of a summer full of unexpected looks.
