Katy Perry Hits 50 Million Followers on Twitter
The singer and CoverGirl is the first celeb to snag 50 million followers (she’s currently at 50.1 million and growing!) on the digital platform. Perry secured the top spot over the weekend, beating out Justin Bieber (49.2 million), Lady Gaga (41 million), and Taylor Swift (38.7 million). The news came the same week Perry’s "Dark Horse" landed the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Best way to end January, or what?
Aside from posting upcoming tour dates, the singer talks charities (particularly UNICEF, where she acts as Goodwill ambassador), interacts with her legion of connected fans, the Katycats, and encourages cameos from her beau, John Mayer, on Twitter—most notably, this gem, which was retweeted over 12,000 times: "John here. Katy can’t write because she’s getting over Stevie Nicks dedicating Landslide to us at the Fleetwood Mac concert. Unforgettable." So sweet! Click to see Perry and Mayer on date night post-Grammys.
