Katy Perry Ends Her Bad Blood with Taylor Swift By Extending an Actual Olive Branch
Before taking the stage in Phoenix, Arizona, Swift posted a video of Perry's peace offering, which included the olive branch and a note, along with the caption "Thank you Katy."
"So I just got to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch," Swift says in the Instagram video. "This mean so much."
While we can't see the full contents of the note Perry sent, you can make out the first bit. "Hey Old Friend," the letter begins. "I've been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and the feelings between us. I really want to clear the air…"
If you look closely during the video, you can also see that the note says "I'm deeply sorry."
In case you need a refresher on the meaning of an olive branch, Merriam Webster defines it as "an offer or gesture of conciliation or goodwill." Perry's gesture definitely seems to have worked, as Swift posted it to her social accounts. Though we'll have to wait and see if they will remain in each other's good graces.
The pop stars have been in a longstanding feud ever since Perry reportedly stole some of Swift's backup dancers while they were both on tour. The bad feelings escalated with Swift penning the song "Bad Blood" about Perry, who responded in kind with her own track "Swish Swish."
Perry vocalized her desire for the feud to end in the past. Last year during an episode of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, she opened up about their falling out.
"What I want to say is that I'm ready for that BS to be done," Perry said. "Now, there is the law of cause and effect. You do something, there's going to be a reaction, and trust me daddy, there's going to be a reaction. It's all about karma, right? I think personally that women together, not divided, and none of this petty bulls--t, women together will heal the world."
