Kate Middleton Wore an Edgy Princess Gown to Meet the Trumps
And the regal look wouldn't have been complete without one of Princess Diana's favorite tiaras.
She may be the Duchess of Cambridge, but Kate Middleton only wears a tiara for very special occasions, and she just dusted off a very royal topper for a state banquet with Melania and Donald Trump.
On Monday, she attended the state banquet at Buckingham Palace to welcome the Trumps for their first state visit to the U.K. The duchess wore a Lover's Knot tiara with her hair pulled back in an updo. She also wore the Queen Mother's sapphire diamond earrings, which she previously wore in 2015 at a gala appearance.
Per Daily Mail royal reporter Rebecca English, Kate wore an Alexander McQueen dress for the occasion. She also wore the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II and the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian.
Kate was last seen in the Lover's Knot tiara at a formal banquet for the Queen and King of the Netherlands at Buckingham Palace last October. It was a favorite of Princess Diana's, and is one of the best-known tiaras in the British royal family's collection. Kate herself has also worn it several times, and her look during Trump's banquet was a return to form.
Along with Kate, Prince William, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall were in attendance at the banquet.
Though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle weren't at the banquet, Harry joined a private lunch earlier in the day with Melania and Donald and the Queen. Meghan, however, will be sitting out the Trumps' visit since she's still on maternity leave.
