Kate Middleton's Polka Dot Dress Was Also Worn By Ivanka Trump and a Royal Wedding Guest
While Kate Middleton is usually the one setting the trends (the Kate Middleton effect is real), it seems that even she’s not immune to jumping on the fashion bandwagon every now and then.
For the royal family’s official portrait released in honor of her father-in-law Prince Charles’s 70th birthday, the Duchess of Cambridge wore one of her fashion go-tos, a polka dot dress — this time a navy number with white polka dots and a contrasting peter pan collar by British designer Alessandra Rich. While Middleton looked beautiful as always, we must admit it the dress gave us a serious case of deja vu due to the fact that five other celebrity women have been seen in the same exact design.
Middleton’s dress was previously worn by Suits actress Abigail Spencer to Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding back in May. The star made the frock royal-wedding guest appropriate with a matching navy rosette fascinator, white strappy heels, and a matching black bag.
However, the dress was first seen on Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley back in November 2017 during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan. The star paired her dress with a bold red lip, a waist-cinching black belt, and a pair of pink bow adorned heels.
Shortly after, host Kelly Ripa wore the dotted number herself, citing Ridley as her inspiration. Ripa went the more simplistic route, outfitting her dress with a classic pair of black pumps.
Fast forward to the springtime when both Sarah Jessica Parker and Christie Brinkley were spotted in the dress. The Sex and the City actress jazzed up her look with an embroidered navy coat, white pumps, and a super sparkly belt for the opening night of The Seafarer in April.
However, Brinkley opted for layering a camel colored trench coat over the dress, accessorizing with some embellished sandals.
The chic midi dress even found its way onto the First Daughter. Ivanka Trump wore the dress with a wide white belt in July during a visit to Iowa with her father, President Trump.
Suffice to say, the polka dot dress craze swept through celebrity women pretty swiftly. Luckily, the dress is still available but only in one size.
We’re almost positive that this won’t be the last that we see of Alessandra Rich’s beloved design.
