Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's Christmas Walk Was a Performance, According to Body Language Expert
On Christmas Day, the royal Fab Four reunited for a walk together to the family's annual church service, and all eyes were on Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton. Amid rumors of tension at Kensington Palace, the sister-in-laws strolled side-by-side seemingly having a good time, but according to a body language expert, they were putting on a show for on-lookers.
Judi James spoke with The Daily Mail to offer some insight on the hidden signs Meghan and Kate were exhibiting during their holiday walk, comparing their body language to politicians.
"It reminds me of political body language. The kind of thing politicians do when they're walking with other heads of state and want to show some signs of rapport or unity," James said.
She added that the duchess's copied each other's actions — another sign of forced friendship. "They're walking in step, and there's enough mirroring to suggest like mindedness too," says James. "Kate has her left hand raised at the same time as Meghan — they're both gesticulating in an over-congruent way to show they're having a conversation. It looks performed, they're possibly trying a bit too hard."
Another clue that the feud rumors are not just royal fodder? Kate's facial expressions. "Normally, Kate wears a classic perfect smile," James explained. "Here, she looks slightly amused by what's happening. It looks like they're almost sharing a joke that they've got to perform this friendship routine."
If James is correct with her assessment, Kate and Meghan could have fooled us with their acting abilities. There's even video evidence of the pair leaving the church, with Meghan putting a nurturing hand on Kate's back.
It appears like a genuine act of kindness to us!
