Kaia Gerber Gave Herself a Tattoo

Quarantine is making us all consider doing crazy things. Bangs. DIY dye jobs. Cutting other people's hair. But Kaia Gerber one-upped just about all of those with a permanent addition to her body: a stick-and-poke tattoo. In a new interview, she explained that social distancing and self-isolation are keeping her from getting new ink, so she decided to try and scratch the itch by doing it herself.

"I've been struggling because one of my favorite pastimes was going and getting tattoos, and nobody's been able to do that," Gerber told Glamour.

"So, in the meantime, I gave myself a stick and poke."

It's not a huge tattoo, however, and people probably won't even be able to tell that she did it, because her DIY masterpiece was just a dot. Anyone expecting a portrait, an homage to a pet, or an old-school Sailor Jerry flash image will be sorely disappointed.

"I gave myself a dot, just so I could be like, 'All right, I got a tattoo this month, I'm cool,'" she continued. "I think I have a newfound appreciation for tattoo artists. It's not easy. I didn't get too ambitious."

If Gerber considers the dot as a new addition to her collection, it joins her extensive collection, which includes the word "mom," flowers, and an angel on her ribcage.

"It's hard to pick a favorite!" Gerber said. "I think I was so worried I was going to regret every tattoo I got, and they all represent such an important time in my life, even if the tattoo itself doesn't have much importance. It's like they're all memories, so I don't feel like I could ever see myself regretting them."
