When Empire's Jussie Smollett stepped out for the Children's Defense Fund's Beat the Odds Awards on Thursday in Beverly Hills, Calif., he greeted his little sister Jurnee Smollett-Bell on the red carpet with a hug—and was thrilled to discover that his navy Calvin Klein suit perfectly coordinated with her deep blue Wolk Marais dress. (Jussie yelled out, "We're matching!")

His supportive younger sister, gushed about her big brother's success on the Fox show to InStyle. "When you've seen someone stomp the ground for so long and, for them to actually make it, it's the best feeling in the world," the 29-year-old former Friday Night Lights star said. "When good stuff happens to good people—you know, I'm just so proud."

The starlet also shared a few details about her own show, WGN America's Underground, which premieres in 2016. The new series, about a group of slaves who use the Underground Railroad as they flee Georgia, features a guest appearance by big bro Jussie. "I’m so excited for people to see him," Jurnee told InStyle. "He completely lost himself in the character and he’s unrecognizable. He’s not Jamaal [Lyon, Jussie's Empire character,] by any means.

When asked about their family time and brother-sister dynamic, Jussie, 32, told reporters, "We're so crazy. We dance a lot and talk about politics and debate a lot—and just music. It's always music inside the house. We just love each other."

As for what's coming up on Empire (the show returns with the second half of Season 2 in March), Jussie dropped some hints: "The next eight episodes is just a continuation of the craziness," he told InStyle. "But, what I'm saying is we'll really start to see that it's time the parents start fixing their roles in the family. It's going to be good—still the drama and then fighting, but you're gonna get there."

Empire returns for Part 2 of its second season on March 30, 2016. Catch the Taraji and Terrence’s White Hot Holidays music and variety TV special Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
