Last year, Julianne Moore wore Chanel Couture to collect her Academy Award for Best Actress and it proved such a stunning moment that the leading lady selected a design from the French house for this year's Oscars. "We thought it would be a really nice tradition to wear Chanel again," says her stylist Leslie Fremar. "There is a mutual admiration and support between Karl [Lagerfeld] and Julie, and Karl offered to make a custom gown for her."

Moore and Fremar didn't have to start from scratch though, as they were so taken with the spring 2016 couture show that debuted last month. "We loved the black gown, but we modified it by changing some of the beading and detail and the length," Fremar says. "All of the stones were hand-embroidered, and were so spectacular."

Chopard jewelry finished the glamorous look. "We chose those circular diamond earrings to create a geometric effect," says Fremar. And as for for shoes, she only revealed, "It was all about comfort."
