If there's one thing Julianne Hough, host of the 2017 Miss U.S.A. Pageant, knows it's how to make sure you never suffer a wardrobe malfunction.

"Whenever I put a dress on I do all sorts of moves and contortions to make sure it's going to stay on," she tells InStyle. "I like to move around, especially at after-parties, I'm always on the dance floor," she added. "I wear a lot of red carpet dresses and stuff, but also making sure you try your heels on with it so it’s the right length and that you can walk in the heels."

We're sure she'll give all of this advice to the Miss U.S.A. contestants come Sunday when the pageant airs. This is Hough's second year as the host and a producer, and she's excited about the pageant's new shift in focus. "It was exciting to be a part of last year, and this year will be a new fresh take on the show, and building op top of last year's new ideas with the same team."

"It really showcases the fact that this is about being confident and healthy, and putting out a great image," she explained. "Miss U.S.A is all about confidence and showcasing these girls who are big influencers in their communities. They're really remarkable young women. So that’s why I wanted to be a part of it."

"The very end with the interview questions is the only time the contestants get to show their personality," she said. "But this year they get to talk a little more in the beginning, the top 12 instead of the top five. People get a chance to see their personalities and it [makes the interview portion] less nerve-racking for them."

Hough is getting ready for another big event in her life: her wedding to Brooks Laich. "I don’t want to go on some crazy diet before my wedding," she shared. "[At my wedding] I want to look like how I look all the time. I'm just staying healthy and strong. I'm just an active person, I'm constantly moving," she said with a laugh. We think her amazing abs are proof enough of that!

Tune in to watch Hough host the 2017 Miss U.S.A. pageant on Sunday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
