Rom-com queen Julia Roberts sparked a media firestorm nearly 20 years ago when she raised her arm to wave to fans at the London Notting Hill premiere in 1999, and in doing so exposed — gasp — an unshaved armpit.

On Sunday night’s episode of Busy Tonight, host Busy Philipps dredged up the moment from the beauty standard-defying archives, asking the Homecoming star whether her feminist statement had been intentional.

“The picture is vivid in my mind actually, from that moment,” Roberts responded, explaining, “I just hadn’t really calculated my sleeve length, and the waving, and how those two things would go together and reveal personal things about me.”

Are we crying or are we laughing? Not sure, tbh.

“So it wasn’t so much a statement,” the Oscar winner continued, “as it’s just part of the statement I make as a human on the planet, for myself.” This is a woman who can afford Venus Gillette by the boatload, so it kind of feels like a statement to us, but OK.

If America’s sweetheart is subliminally encouraging us to throw away our razors though, she doesn’t have to tell us twice. Bye, Bic!
