The annual Met Gala was canceled this year and yet, somehow, we were served all (well, some of) the fashion anyway. Cue, Julia Roberts and Katy Perry.

On Instagram, Roberts, who was co-chair of the event in 2008, shared a photo of herself standing on top of her tub wearing a black and white tiered dress. In the caption she wrote, "Here’s me...not going to the Met Ball tonight." While the photo was actually from an old cover of Entertainment Weeky, the gown was still fit for a night at the event.

Perry's decidedly different look was a pregnancy 'fit version of Madonna's iconic Jean Paul Gautier bra. It comes complete with cone cups on the top, plus another one for the belly. "What would have been ..." she wrote alongside an image of the outfit on a mannequin.

Other celebrities celebrated – and mourned – the cancelation of the famous event by posting throwback photos from years past. Blake Lively even revealed that she'd been secretly matching the carpet every year, and none of us ever noticed.

Here's to staying home if you can, and looking forward to the next one (while dressed in a ball gown on your couch if you want).

An earlier version of this story said that Julia Robert's dress was her would-be Met Gala look. It has been updated to reflect that the photo was actually from an Entertainment Weekly cover.
