Jon Hamm Is More Than Just the Handsome Guy

Yeah, Jon Hamm is hot, but he wants you to look beyond that.

During an interview with The Guardian, Hamm was made aware that Edgar Wright (the director of his upcoming film Baby Driver) said of the Mad Men alum, “It’s rare to find a dramatic actor who’s also funny. Handsome people aren’t usually funny either.”

Upon hearing this, Hamm’s first instinct was to disprove Wright’s theory.

“That’s certainly not been my experience,” he explained. “Kristen Wiig is a beautiful lady and she’s one of the funniest people I know. And Tina Fey, Amy Poehler … Aziz Ansari is a handsome man, and Tom Cruise is really funny. And George Clooney, Matt Damon …” Solid point, Jon.

“I bring more to the table than what I represent physically,” he continued, “It’s a daily struggle to prove that. Obviously it’s a lovely thing for people to say … [I’m handsome], but sometimes it comes with a sh—y dig underneath.”

We so relate. Being too attractive for our own good is a struggle we cope with on the daily.

Joking aside, we hear you, Mr. Hamm—we’ll cool it with the objectification.
