This Is What Happened When JoJo Fletcher Told Her Brothers She Was Going to Be the Next Bachelorette
JoJo Fletcher may still be at the beginning of her quest to land a fiancé and a 3-carat Neil Lane sparkler, but we're already counting down the rose ceremonies until those coveted hometown dates. Why, you ask? Two words: her brothers. Fletcher’s hot older siblings, Ben and Matt, pretty much stole the show last season when she brought Ben Higgins home to Texas and now we're eager to get their oh-so-honest take on her current group of suitors.
Ben (above, left) and Matt may have been tough on their sister's prospective boyfriend (“I don't know if you were coached on your answers or what,” Matt told a dumbfounded Higgins in this clip from The Bachelor below), but you have to admit that they were doing what brothers do best—being protective. And according to Fletcher, her bros didn’t hate Higgins as much as you might think. “When I brought Ben home, they actually really enjoyed meeting him,” Fletcher tells InStyle. “They knew that he was a good guy at the end of the day, but they also knew he wasn't the right guy for me.”
So that made us wonder, how did her siblings react when she told them she was going to be the one giving out the roses this time around? “They were so excited for me,” says Fletcher. “Since I'm the Bachelorette, my family can feel more confident knowing I'm not at such a high risk for heartbreak. But at the same time, they will always be worried about me. Especially when I was away filming and they had no idea what was going on.”
Her brother Ben, who is no stranger to the reality show dating scene (he appeared on Eva Longoria's short-lived NBC show, Ready for Love), even took to Instagram to wish his sister good luck: “I can't wait to meet the man she chooses!” he posted before the premiere.
Regardless of who (Jordan? Luke?) actually gets face time with her family, we know it will be wild ride. And if Chad somehow ends up in the final two? Everybody better buckle up.
The Bachelorette is on tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
