Johnny Depp Dresses as Jack Sparrow to Cheer Children's Hospital Patients
Here's a case of true holiday spirit: Johnny Depp donned his signature Jack Sparrow costume to visit sick kids at the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in London. Along with posing with some of the hospital's cutest patients (see above for evidence), Sparrow also hung out with teenagers like this grinning and "confused" girl here.
It turns out Depp makes the visit to the Children's Hospital an annual event—and for personal reasons.
Depp spoke about his holiday visits on The Graham Norton Show last year. "For me it’s a gift. They give me the gift," he said. "When my daughter was ill in Great Ormond Street, it was the darkest period of my life. I’d always done these visits but after that experience the visits became more and more important."
Also his goofy Jack Sparrow was sure to bring cheer. He's actually reprising the role next year in Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, out May 26.
For Depp, the story ends particularly beautifully; daughter Lily Rose-Depp is a shining star in the modeling and acting world. But talk about paying it forward!
