John Legend released “Love Me Now,” the first single from his forthcoming album Darkness and Light, late Thursday night after performing the track for the first time in a Facebook Live session.

Written and produced by Legend, with Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes), and John Ryan (One Direction), “Love Me Now” is his first new release since he and Common debuted the Oscar-winning song “Glory” for the 2014 film Selma.

“ ‘Love Me Now’ is all about living and loving to the fullest, no matter what tomorrow may bring,” Legend said in a statement. “I’m so excited to finally share music from my new album. I’ve put a lot of love and energy into making this album special. I hope my fans can feel it.”

Darkness and Light follows Legend’s 2013 collection Love in the Future, which housed smash hit “All of Me.”
