Step aside, Barack Obama—it looks like former Vice President Joe Biden made a new best friend.

The politician was introduced to the puppy version of himself—a 4-month-old golden retriever named Biden—today in Washington, D.C., and we can't handle all of the cuteness.

The meeting occurred when Sydney, Biden's owner, brought the dog by the Capitol knowing that the man behind her pet's name was attending an event to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Affordable Care Act. Her hope was to arrange a meet-and-greet between the pair, and that she did. The duo quickly became fast friends when Biden (the human) spotted the pup in the crowd and came over to say hello.

"As soon as I told him his name was Biden, he started kissing the dog, which is like exactly what I expected Biden would do," Sydney told Buzzfeed following the hang out session. "As soon as I told him, his face lit up."

And as for why she gave her dog the famous moniker? She shared: "I named the dog Biden just because he is probably my favorite politician and favorite elected official."
