Brace yourselves: the 2017 Golden Globe Awards are going to be so good. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association took to social media today to announce that Jimmy Fallon is set to host the annual telecast, and we couldn't be more excited.

"We’re thrilled to announce Jimmy as host of 'The 74th Annual Golden Globes,'" NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt followed up in a press release. "This is the most spontaneous and uninhibited award show on television, and Jimmy’s playful, disarming comedic brilliance makes him the ideal host to enhance and elevate the sense of fun and irreverence that’s made the Golden Globes one of the premier events of the entire broadcast year."

The host of The Tonight Show also took to Twitter to express his joy. "I'm so excited to be hosting The Golden Globes in January," Fallon wrote on Twitter. "And I'm really looking forward to spending time with the Hollywood Foreign Press before Donald Trump has them all deported."

Fallon will follow in the footsteps of fellow comedian Ricky Gervais, who hosted the show in 2016, and fellow comediennes Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who tag-teamed the ceremony from 2013 to 2015.

Tune in to the 2017 Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 8, 2017 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
