Jimmy Fallon Plays Off His Monologue Trouble in the Best Way Possible
Jimmy Fallon's hosting gig at the 74th annual Golden Globes Awards was not one to be missed. From insane musical numbers, to hilarious dad-worthy jokes, Fallon brought his A-game to one of the biggest awards shows fo the season, despite getting off to a rocky start.
Much of Fallon's opening monologue was cut short due to a technical difficulty with the teleprompter, but luckily the host was able to get in a few good jabs before starting the award's ceremony: "Matt Damon is here tonight," he said. "Looking good buddy. We all know Matt Damon from his best acting role. Telling Ben Affleck that he liked Batman v Superman." Good one, Jimmy.
Even better, though, was his reaction after the teleprompter was fixed delivering what was easily the best line of the night: "I just got off the phone with Mariah Carey and she thinks Dick Clark Productions sabotaged my monologue."

Before he walked on stage to a broken teleprompter, he opened with a La La Land parody featuring Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams, Sarah Paulson, Kit Harington waking up from the dead, and of course the stranger things kids (with a special appearance from Barb), dancing through the cars parked along the red carpet, full-out dance moves included. The musical number featured Fallon as Ryan Gosling in the film, sitting on the piano with none other than Ryan Reynolds serenading Fallon on top of the piano. BTW, Gosling loved it, the camera capturing his hysterical reaction to the spoof.
Fallon then runs into his BFF, Justin Timberlake, and the pair shared a romantic dance through the glittering stars, landing back down on a movie set where JT tells his friend, "well, you better get out there and host." And host he did! Congrats on a great night to Fallon, and the rest of the winners.
