It’s the ultimate warm weather dilemma: You’ve put together the perfect off-duty outfit, a pair of straight-leg distressed denim, a summery striped top, and a pair of flat slides that scream chic. You’re all but ready to leave the house when you realize that you better grab a lightweight jacket to brave the breeze. The only problem is, your favorite spring topper also happens to be made of denim.

The Canadian tuxedo, or denim-on-denim look, has gotten a lot of flack in the fashion world, but there is a chic way to do it right. Look no further than Jessica Biel, who managed to make her all-jean look into a stand-out fashion statement.

The trick is in the different washes of denim, which keep this ensemble from looking too matchy-matchy. She paired a brighter blue oversize jean jacket (shop a similar style here) with a pair of high-waist ripped jeans that have a slight gray-ish tint (similar here). By breaking up the ensemble with a striped top and throwing on a luxe pair of flats, she has us totally obsessed.

So next time you’re wondering whether you can really rock that jacket with those jeans, let Biel be your inspiration.
