Jessica Alba's tried-and-proven recipe for dress success ensures the actress always stands out from the A-list crowd with her unique street style looks. The star's sleek, tailored fashion aesthetic mixes classic and edgy pieces to seamlessly blend together into the perfect outfit.

Thursday night was no exception, as InStyle's July cover girl brought her trademark elegance to a black-and-white ensemble while out on a dinner date in Hollywood. The Honest Company founder paired a flowing black maxi skirt with a relaxed white Quinn blouse ($215; quinnshop.com), which she elevated with a sleek black leather jacket and metallic silver heels. The 35-year-old finished off her look with her strong brows, signature glowing skin, and her dark hair simply parted down the middle.

In an interview with InStyle, the mother of two recently revealed that her sex symbol status was a "life crisis," and that the first time she wore a dress and heels was for the Golden Globes!

"My sexuality made me very uncomfortable," Alba recalls. "I remember my first Maxim shoot, they were telling me to pose a certain way, and I was like, 'Agh! I'm 19. I'm a virgin. I don't even know how to do that.' It was so awkward."
