The fifth annual Baby2Baby Gala drew in a star-studded evening and the gowns definitely did not disappoint! Held in Culver City at 3Labs last night, the red carpet was one long fashionable parade of Hollywood's most glamorous yet philanthropic moms.
Amongst those that strutted their best included Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, Kristen Bell, Molly Sims, Rachel Bilson, Kelly Rowland, Camila Alves, and Christina Aguilera–and that's just for starters. The starry crowd brought in a whopping $3 million for the charity, which distributes diapers, clothing, and other basic necessities to low income children.
Many of the guests dished on why Baby2Baby will always have their heart. Hudson, clad in a gorgeous J. Mendel gown (". It’s comfortable, and it also like hugs me in all the right places," she described), said she liked how the goals of the charity are locally minded. "Especially in Los Angeles where we’re incredibly segregated, and we don’t recognize that because when you live sort of inside of these four walls, when you start to kind of open your eyes to Los Angeles, there’s a lot in the greater community that needs to be done," she said.
King, clad in an Elie Saab dress, echoed the sentiment, while adding, "They’ve really made giving back very simple and very easy and there are so many people out there who have to choose between feeding their child or putting on a diaper."
Co-founders Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein explained how it all started. “Five years ago, when Kelly and I started Baby2Baby, we had a tiny warehouse and we were new moms, and knew that there were children living miles away from us who had so little, and that we could help them with our friends and extended family," Weinstein said. "Five years later, we have given out 27 million items, including 13 million diapers. We have giant offices. We have a national network."

Baby2Baby has done so well that even the President had to get in on the action. “The White House called our office, which when the White House calls your office, you’re pretty excited," Patricof said. "They were asking if we would help lead a diaper initiative with President Obama, trying to spread the word about the diaper gap, that poor families in this country can’t afford diapers. So that was a big moment for us."
One super mom who has been instrumental in getting thousands of diapers donated is the lovely Jennifer Garner. The actress looked radiant in her Roland Mouret navy gown. The actress was accepting the Giving Tree Award for her support of Baby2Baby and her ongoing dedication to children in need. “There are so many incredible people here. What excites me the most is that everyone is here with the same goal, to make kids’ lives better," she said on the red carpet. "That is something that these people are really making happen, and I’m just thrilled to be a part of it."
Onstage Garner’s dear friend (and Dallas Buyer’s Club co-star) Matthew McConaughey started off his speech to Jennifer. “I get asked about you often," he said. "It’s very easy for me to tell the simple truth when I say, she cares. You do. You care about people, you care about family, you honestly give a damn about the well being of others, and even those people that you may not even know personally. And tonight we’re here to shine a light on you for just that, Jennifer Garner. You are the definition of this award because of your dedication to improving the lives of low income children.”
Attendees enjoyed a dinner extravaganza led by L.A.'s top chefs and restaurants. To top it off? There was a surprise performance by Boyz II Men to close out the event.
