Jennifer Lopez Explains How Rihanna's Manolo Blahnik Boots Made It into the "Ain't Your Mama" Video
Last week, Jennifer Lopez dropped a new music video for her feminist anthem, “Ain’t Your Mama,” and she took to Facebook Live Tuesday to reveal how the decade-spanning video came about. The super star showed the “progression of women” through seven different looks in the video, which ended with a modern-day dance sequence in a pair of $4,350 thigh-high denim boots from Rihanna and Manolo Blahnik's collaboration, given to J.Lo by the "Work" singer.
“Rihanna had sent me these amazing boots and I was like, ‘These have to be in the video,’” she said. “I always saw all of the women kind of marching at the end in a group, you know, kind of starting this revolution, and I thought, ‘Ok, maybe I’m just wearing them to dance.’ They’re just amazing. So that’s what we did.”
But it turns out shaking her thing wasn’t that easy in the thigh-high footwear. “They were hard to dance in. Everybody else was dancing as you see in kind of like combat boots and sneakers and I walked out to set and I was like, ‘Nobody wearing heels but me? OK,’” she said. “It was on the concrete outside so it wasn’t the easiest boot to ever dance in but we pulled it off.” Watch her Facebook Live session here:
