Jennifer Lopez Talks Balancing Mom Life with Being "Fabulous"
Jennifer Lopez balances plenty of things — not just being a working mom. She's Jenny from the Block. She's, yes, a mom, and she's also a Coach spokesmodel, a performer who has the Super Bowl Halftime Show on her résumé, a producer, a two-time Golden Globe nominee, and she's got a fashion and fragrance empire. But in a new video for Coach, Lopez explains that being a mom actually helped her find balance, because as soon as she had children, she knew what her priority had to be.
"Your whole perspective on the world changes. It's all about them. How can you be better for them? How you need to be better for them? How can you make them laugh?," Lopez says in a video showing off Coach's new Mother's Day styles, including the Tabby Shoulder Bag 26 with Floral Embroidery. "How can you make them smile? How can you make them confident? It's actually a really beautiful, easy place to be because nothing is confusing anymore. You know exactly where the priority lies."
Lopez adds that everything she does now isn't to pad her already-impressive list of accolades. Instead, she's doing everything, from acting and producing to singing and dancing, so that her family will be proud of her.
"I know people kind of see me and Alex and the girls and Max, you know, always together. My type of work, I'm lucky that I can have that, because when they're there, they empower me to soar. I want to make them proud."
And it seems to be working, too, becuase, as Lopez explains, her daughter says that she's "fabulous" — not that anyone would even think of Lopez as anything but fabulous. But like any mom, Lopez says that she wishes she could spend more time with her family, though they understand that it's part of the deal when mom happens to be J. Lo.
"My daughter has used the word fabulous at times. Just sayin'. I don't know. I think they would describe me as loving, patient, but also, I think, they wish I didn't work as much. But I also think they appreciate all they have because of it. Just like anybody's life, it's not perfect, but we make the best of it."
Lopez finishes her message with some words of encouragement to every mom out there, whether they're doing it on their own or have help. She says that even though it's hard work, it's something that's satisfying to see everything get done, even if it's doesn't all go as planned.
"Just like every working mom, single mom out there, and even not-single moms, if you're in a relationship, it's not enough hours in the day sometimes, but it's a joyous labor to make it all happen."
