You’ll Never Guess Which Pop Star Is Kate Hudson’s Spirit Animal
Kate Hudson is braving New York City’s ice and snow to promote her new film, Kung Fu Panda 3, and looking fabulous while doing so. She appeared on a panel at AOL Build and warmed up the crowd with her hilarious answer to the question, “Who is your spirit animal?”
Her co-star Lucy Liu took the first stab, giving a sweet response about her experience with UNICEF and learning from kids. “That’s such a great answer,” Hudson said. “I was going to say J.Lo,” referring to InStyle's February cover girl.
The star looked chic in a gray turtleneck sweater, pink pants, and beige pointy-toe pumps when speaking about her “great gig,” the third installment of the Kung Fu Panda franchise. “It’s not very taxing. It’s more like, ‘What time would you like to come do some voiceover?’ And you’re sort of like, ‘Noon would be great.’”
Hudson seemed to enjoy the low-key experience of filming her first animated movie. “There’s no hair and makeup. You’re in your sweats,” she said of filming. “You see the movie and it's a panda, so you’re not sitting there going, ‘Oh god, that’s really close. That’s a closeup.’”
The actress plays the fabulous role of Mei Mei, the “self-proclaimed best ribbon dancer in all of China,” and the love interest of Jack Black’s character Po. And while she loved playing her eccentric character, there is one role in her past that she would like to reprise: the singing and dancing Stephanie in Nine.
“I’d love to get back on that stage again and do another number,” she said. “But then I’d want to do more numbers, because I like doing numbers.” Nine wasn't the only time Hudson performed on stage—the actress played Lea Michele's harsh dance teacher on Glee and was quick to break into song throughout the interview, even asking the crowd when she couldn't remember the words. Something tells us we’ll be seeing this Jennifer Lopez-loving star in a performing role again soon.
