Jennifer Garner Is Taking Us Back Through Her IMDb Page With ASMR
Jennifer Garner's had a long, varied career. She kicked ass, she made us laugh, and she's got a new flick out. But instead of promoting it with late-night talk shows, she's giving a very au courant interview via ASMR (that's autonomous sensory meridian response for anyone unfamiliar with the phenomenon), the very of-the-moment tingly auditory phenomenon that's birthed an entire online cottage industry. Fans are in for a treat, because not only is the actor's soothing voice a joy to hear, she's taking it back — way back — with nods to just about every role on her IMDb page.
In the interview for W Magazine, Garner brushes a few Technicolor wigs — a nod to her star-making role as Sydney Bristow in Alias. Next, she fiddles with blingy costume jewelry that harkens back to 13 Going on 30. Throughout, she's using that tingly whisper tone that's comforting and almost creepy at the same time.
Though some of the sounds are more disconcerting than they are soothing, Garner does her best to get through the ordeal without cracking. With mentions of scary clowns, ghosts, and little girls sprinkled in among anecdotes about her pals Mark Ruffalo and Judy Greer, it's worth a watch for fans of nostalgia and Garner's oeuvre. Of course, there's a little gratuitous promotion when she digs into peppermint-flavored candy and gum in an homage to her new flick, Peppermint, but who can blame her? After nearly 10 minutes of staying calm and collected while doing something so absurd, she deserves to sing her own praises for a bit instead of taking us all back through her past projects.
During a quick mention of her new baby food line, everything gets very ASMR-heavy, so viewers looking to get the real effect should pay attention. Garner's gardening skills may be rudimentary, but the sounds coming from the packaging, the tools, and the rubber gloves are all tingle-inducing.
Even while chuckling with a mouth full of candy and dropping a bit of profanity, her aww-shucks attitude and sugary-sweet personality shine through, and it's exactly what fans fell in love with so many years ago. Check it all out, kiddie jewels and all, in the video, below.
