Such was the case when Aniston took the stage at the 29th American Cinematheque Award ceremony on Friday night.

She surprised us all when she eschewed her red carpet uniform—a little black dress—in favor of a sleek Kaufmanfranco design featuring a white bandeau top and a long high-waist black column of a skirt that revealed just a sliver of skin. Chandelier earrings, a single bracelet, and her signature tousled waves rounded out her ensemble.
