Jenna Dewan & Channing Tatum’s Daughter Has Some Thoughts About Step Up
There are few things in this life more rewarding than watching a good teen dance movie. The hormones! The choreography! The SATs! Who could ask for anything more? (Don’t answer that.)
Well, as it turns out, the stars of timeless dance flick Step Up have quite the critic on their hands in their nearly 4-year-old daughter, Everly.
While on vacation in Mexico, Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum happened upon the film that jumpstarted their real-life love story. “It was so funny, we were like, ‘Everly, Everly, look! It’s mommy and daddy!’ Jenna told HuffPost. “At first she didn’t think it was us. She’s like, ‘That’s not you guys.’ And I’m like, ‘No, it’s us, Evie, it’s me!’ And then she goes, ‘Can we watch something good?’ Just like that, and we were humbled.” The shade! “One day she’ll maybe appreciate it on a different level, but yeah, she’s not so into it.”
Admittedly, Step Up isn’t Jenna and Channing’s top movie night choice, either.
“We both cringe,” Dewan said of re-watching the 2006 movie with her husband, “We’re just so baby new―our acting, we’re like, ‘What are we doing there?!’”
Obviously, the film still means a lot to both of them. “It’s so sweet. We were talking about it the other day, like, ‘Do we remember that routine at the end?’ I think when it was the 10-year anniversary we did the lift outside in our yard just to prove that we could still do it!”
Yep, they can:
And how do the parents expect to guide their daughter through the shock of seeing dad strip down in that other famous dance franchise?
“We got to show [Magic Mike] to her before one of her friends at school is like, ‘I saw this movie your dad’s in ...’” Dewan shared. Good idea, Jenna!
