Celebrity Jane Fonda's Advice to Her Younger Self: "It's a Good Thing to Know Who You Are" By Meghan Blalock Published on October 17, 2012 Pin Share Tweet Email Photo: Gregg DeGuire/WireImage; Silver Screen Collection/Hulton Archive/Getty Images Jane Fonda has been in the film industry for more than 50 years, so, not surprisingly, she's learned a thing or two about life (and working the red carpet). Note the on-trend gold leather jacket and cream ensemble (shown right) that the legendary actress/fitness guru wore to the Los Angeles premiere of her HBO drama The Newsroom. We caught up with Fonda at a New York fundraiser for her charity, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, and wanted to know what advice the 74-year-old star would give her younger self. "To be more self-aware," she told InStyle.com. "I didn’t pay attention back then and I wish that I had. I used to think it was a bad thing, but I now think it’s a good thing to know who you are and how you want to present yourself to the world. I didn’t then." She certainly gives the impression of a self-possessed woman, and we love that she's an active charity supporter to boot! Plus, see more celebrity causes!
