On Wednesday night in Brooklyn, dozens of creative types, like style doyenne Jamie Chung, for instance, gathered atop Williamsburg’s freshly minted pool terrace at the William Vale Hotel to not only toast to a balmy summer night, but also the creation of a separate, one-of-a-kind pool concept, simply dubbed +POOL. So what, exactly, is this new water-fueled project? Set to open by 2020, this new floating pool will lay over the East River and, through its own walls, filter the natural gem’s H2O into a pool that anyone could happily dive into. At the event, guests like Chung and Orange Is the New Black star Alysia Reiner were encouraged to purchase tiles that fund the pool’s construction and will eventually feature the owner’s name engraved at the bottom. At the party, Chung rocked a navy Lou & Grey romper ($70; louandgrey.com) with multi-colored heels and a matching Lou & Grey bandana ($32; louandgrey.com) wrapping her ponytail. She mingled with guests, who, between taking in views of Manhattan’s skyline and sipping on Aperol Spritzes, also picked up custom gift bags with copies of InStyle’s September issue and Lavazza coffee beans.
