InStyle Virtual And Drew Barrymore Take You Inside Our November Cover Shoot Like Never Before

Drew Barrymore is one of those rare stars that everyone wants to hang out with. In person, she’s as lovely and warm as you imagine, and despite being in the public eye for 37 of her 40 years, she is both approachable and accessible. This is why she’s the perfect partner for us to launch our new immersive 3D experience, InStyle Virtual.

Beginning with this month’s issue, InStyle will take you on some incredible journeys. First up is your invitation to visit Barrymore and the InStyle team on location while they create this gorgeous cover below.

The actress was styled in Stella McCartney and Valentino for the November shoot, which took place at Pier 59 Studios in Manhattan. Between takes, she approved bindings for her new book of personal stories, Wildflower ($17; amazon.com), coordinated deliveries of her Flower Beauty line, and curated a playlist.

Working with Jaunt VR, a company pioneering cinematic virtual reality, we created a 360-degree tour of our day in the photo studio with Barrymore. Jaunt’s stereoscopic cameras and advanced 3D sound-field microphones allow you to look in any direction as if you were actually there – up, down, even behind you. You’ll see Fashion Director Melissa Rubini style Barrymore in Stella McCartney and Valentino (as seen on our cover) and feel what it’s like to stand in Barrymore’s shoes as she poses for celebrity photographer Jan Welters. You’ll also hear directly from the actress as she shares some of her favorite makeup tips (including her never-leave-home-without lip gloss from her own Flower Cosmetics).
