Holiday party season is right around the corner, and InStyle’s beauty director Kahlana Barfield dished on the hottest beauty trends from the spring 2015 runway shows that you can try out on the soiree circuit during the Blog Meets Brand event sponsored by Jergens in New York City last week, which also featured a presentation by celebrity makeup artist Pati DuBroff.

"Don’t be afraid to add color to your face and hair," Barfield says. At Christian Dior and Fendi’s runways shows, models sported pastel eyeliner and eyeshadow, while Badgley Mischka opted for dyed clip-in hair extensions on their models to create a pop of color. Adding a bright, bold eye or unexpected hair streak is a great conversation starter and will make you stand out from the masses.

If applying strips of false lashes sounds scary, using a center cluster is an easier alternative, like they did at the Altuzarra show. "It’s literally just a cluster popped onto the center of your eyelashes and really does open up your eyes and make you look bright-eyed," Barfield explains.

When it comes to your manicure, you can match it to your makeup or accessories. "Usually matchy-matchy is tacky-tacky, but this season, it actually looks pretty chic," Barfield says. Take a page from Zac Posen, who showed off identical red nails and lips, or Giorgio Armani’s runway, where models rocked both gold eyeshadow and gold polish.

As for your tresses, try a messy french braid or floral accent, seen at Dolce and Gabbana and Bottega Veneta. But think less flower girl and more whimsical woman. "The key is a messy texture to make it look very romantic and chic," she advises.
