Just when you thought Instagram couldn't get any better, they take photo sharing to a whole new level. The social media platform announced today the release of Boomerang from Instagram, a new video app that lets you turn a series of pictures into a mini video (similar to a GIF) to post on your account.

"Press a button and the app does the rest. Boomerang takes a burst of photos and stitches them together into a high-quality mini video that plays forward and backward," a post on Instagram's blog says. "Shoot in portrait or landscape. Share it on Instagram. Boomerang automatically saves it to your camera roll. Weโ€™re inspired by the visual stories you tell on Instagram. With looping videos and Hyperlapse, you experiment with motion in new and exciting ways. Now, with Boomerang, we canโ€™t wait to see what youโ€™ll create next."

And just in case you want to see how it works, Eva Chen, head of fashion partnerships at Instagram, demonstrated the new feature on her own account with the caption: "RELEASE THE KRAKEN (again)!!! So excited to announce the launch of @instagram's newest app, Boomerang!!! Download it now in the App Store, it's really ridiculously fun."
