If a picture’s worth a thousand words, what does it take to measure the breadth of creativity behind some of the world’s most fashion-forward window displays? Thanks to the folks at WindowsWear, we have the answer.
On Thursday night inside New York City’s 1 OAK nightclub, 400 of the most talented and artistic people working in art and fashion gathered to celebrate the WindowsWear 4th Annual Fashion Window Display Awards, an event the organization hosts each year to honor the world’s larger-than-life sidewalk favorites.
So who received an award? Honorees from across the globe included teams from top designer brands like Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, and Louis Vuitton, in addition to those of lead department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys.
And while the glasses of Champagne, chicken empanadas, and freshly grilled mini burgers were enough to keep the crowd entertained, it was the awards showdown that had everyone marveling. There were 40 winners across diverse categories (divided by the window’s city, color, and season, among other criteria) that were announced and awards were handed off to brands like Calvin Klein for Best Purple Window and Moncler for the City category in Tokyo.
To prove that the Big Apple does it best, Dolce & Gabbana’s life-like Abominable Snowman and King Kong recreation in New York won the prize for the best window in Manhattan (above).
