Kate Hudson, J.Lo, and More Stars Fête The Daily Front Row's Second Annual Fashion Awards
The Daily Front Row’s second annual star-studded Fashion Los Angeles Awards was about much more than a chance to catch a glimpse at Lady Gaga or Jennifer Lopez (although both slayed). It was a celebration of fashion, those that continue to make a statement in the industry, and a BFF lovefest between stylists, designers, and the stars they’ve collaborated with for years.
“Rob, Mariel Haenn, and I have been through a lot together,” said J.Lo, who stunned in an off-white sequined dress, while presented the Best Women’s Stylists award to her longtime stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn. Like J.Lo, Gaga also gushed over one of her best friends in life and in fashion, Brandon Maxwell.
Before accepting her own award for Editor of the Year for her work with V Magazine, she gave a touching tribute to him for his Best Designer Debut award. “The best thing you've ever done for our friendship is support yourself and follow your dreams,” Gaga, who dazzled in a sequined Saint Laurent dress with feathered sleeves, said. “It’s extremely inspiring, and I think the thing that makes your clothing so special is that you truly love to dress these women.”
Maxwell also paid tribute to Gaga when he accepted his award, saying, “I know that I would not be here without you and it would never have been possible… I’m very happy that I have this career and all that you’ve done for me, but I’m more proud of the things that you’ve done for me at 4 o'clock in the morning and for truly keeping me alive.”
While Lopez greeted friends like Rachel Zoe and Kris Jenner, Kate Hudson also was on hand to honor her bestie, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, who received the Best Jewelry Designer award. “This is exciting for me because I get to present my oldest friend with an award… I remember when she told me she was going to start making jewelry and she came to me and brought me this perfect little gold leaf. And she said ‘What do you think’ and I said, ‘I think it’s amazing.’”
The emotions continued to run high as Gigi Hadid took the stage to present the Magazine of the Year Award to Carine Roitfeld for her CR Fashion Book. “Thank you for believing in me and guiding me these past few years and for being an unequivocal mentor and friend,” she said through tears. “My career would be unrecognizable without you… it’s so surreal to be back on the cover of the magazine that changed my life.”
“I was here last year with no makeup on supporting my sister as her little sister and it’s crazy to be here a year later winning this award,” Bella said, as she accepted her award in a Moschino tuxedo mini dress. “I worked really hard this year, but I didn’t think I would be standing in front of you right now. You guys are really scary to me. I might pee my pants… I'm not wearing pants,” she added with a laugh.
