#HowToWearIt: The Slim Tunic

The post-holiday winter months can seem endless. If you need a purchase pick-me-up, invest in one of the most versatile style pieces: the slim tunic. You can layer it up for a "wear now" style and deconstruct it later for a sleeveless spring look—either way, it's a key piece for both seasons. Tunics can also work well for evening, as seen in head-to-toe black on Jessie J (above).
The tunic looks most modern over a slim-crop or wide pant. Play with colorblocking effects or pair it with a matching bottom to create the illusion of a set. If you are not buying your pieces from the same designer, try to get the colors as close as possible and in matte solids and textures---it will create an impossibly chic minimal effect à la the look by The Row pictured below. Whenever you are wearing more sculpted shapes, remember that fabric matter, so avoid slinky and light-weight pieces and instead go for more substantial silhouettes. Try the looks below!
