It's June, which means summer weddings are in full swing. The wedding gift: easy. Travel plans: piece of cake. What you're wearing: stressful! Every woman is guilty of thinking "yes," you have a closet full of things you could wear, and "no," you don’t want wear any of them. The age-old problem is compounded by our increasingly social society of Facebook, Instagram, and overall over-sharing, so it feels that what you wear can be repeated less and less.
I am on the hunt for some evening pieces myself, but I am currently distracted by a whole new crop of collections that I am viewing for resort 2015 market week. Even though these pieces won’t be in stores until November, I am pining to wear them immediately. It inspires me to think beyond the current crop of spring trends and get ahead of the curve and invest in things that will look relevant for a few seasons.
Slightly bolder pastels can be a great choice for a summer wedding in clean shapes and are so much more subtle and polished than choosing a primary color. Remember that when selecting your footwear nothing can kill an evening faster than a painful pair of shoes. I tend to size up a half size for a strappy evening sandal to ensure they will be comfortable. Your jewelry doesn't have to be basic, especially if the dress is. Try a new shape like a curved bar instead of a stud. Lastly, if you're tired of dresses, break the cycle and go for separates. They are readily available in dressier fabrics and allow you to mix and match for multiple parties.
Lastly, don't forget that this day is about a celebration of the couple getting married, you want to look stylish but not steal the show.
