Sometimes clothing can be a reflection of your mood. There are days when you want to blend in, and days when you feel like making a statement. Like Pharrell says, "same is lame," so why not inject some playfulness into your winter wardrobe with an attention grabbing embroidered piece?

Alexa Chung looked lovely in a Valentino resort dress this past week (below) and upon closer inspection, you'll notice the print is composed of embroidered monkeys. Like I said, playful! What works so well is the fact that the print is in a deep color palette. The shape is also painfully modern with a cap sleeve, fitted waist, and midi-length hem. Since embroidery adds so much textures, prints inevitably read richer than a regular print. Look for weightier fabrics in fall jewel tones when adding these artful pieces to your wardrobe.
