Just because the temps are heating up, it doesn’t mean you can’t rock your go-to smoky eye at your next summer soiree. Take it from the always-stunning Rose Byrne, who played up her glowing complexion with smoldering shades of grey at the 2014 Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards. If you’re as eager as we are to try out the same look this weekend, keep reading—we scored the exact products and details from the woman behind the look, makeup artist Georgie Eisdell.

With Byrne’s '70s vibe in mind (she wore a shimmery Max Mara jumpsuit), Eisdell aimed to create a look that was clean, cool, and chic. To start, she applied Laura Mercier Matte Eye Shadow in Buttercream ($23; lauramercier.com) to prep her eyelids with a flawless base. Then, she mixed Laura Mercier Matte Eyeshadow in Twilight Grey ($23; lauramercier.com) with NARS Eye Shadow in Namibia ($25; narcosmetics.com) to achieve the perfect shade of grey. “I put this color over her lid, blending into the crease slightly to create a smoky effect,” she tells us. To dial down the drama for summer, skip the heavy eyeliner and accentuate your eyes with shadow instead. “I brought the color under her eyes to create a deeper smoky effect, graduating from stronger to lighter toward the inner corner under the eye,” Eisdell adds. Lastly, don’t skimp on the mascara. “I finished off her eyes with three layers of CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara in Black ($8; drugstore.com).”
