Taraji P. Henson's Hairstylist Shares the DIY for Her "Urban Veronica Lake" Look
Another day, another fabulous hairstyle for Taraji P. Henson. Last night the stunning star teamed up with Terrence Howard to record "Taraji and Terrence’s White Hot Holidays" for FOX, and she made jaws drop with her beautifully styled tresses. We were eager to score the details on the flawless 'do, and her pro for the evening, Cesar Ramirez, shared all.
Ramirez said the sultry look was, "urban Veronica Lake-inspired." A deep side part was created to section off one side for the braids, and there wasn't a specific pattern to create the look. Ramirez revealed that, "your braids can be created in any style you prefer." Instead of braiding all the way to the nape of the neck, Henson's zigzag plaits stopped just past the back of her ear.
For the bombshell curls the hair expert suggests first applying Mizani Thermastrength Heat Protecting Serum ($23; ulta.com) to damp hair, "for anti-breakage and smooth finishing." Then dry small sections with a round brush to help pump up the volume. "Once hair is completely dry, wrap and twist random small sections around a wide-barrel curling wand, to create texture."
After gently brushing curls with a paddle brush, Ramirez recommends locking in that effortlessly sexy texture by, "grabbing your favorite texturing spray, shake your head upside down, and spray from roots to ends lightly." Complete the look by adjusting strands to fall perfectly around your face à la Henson.
"Remember to leave the hair looking a little disheveled and piecey for a fun, sexy look."
